So i ve long wondered if i couldn t take old 5 and 6 fence boards cut them in half and use them as siding in a similar fashion.

That one looks like it s just a 2x4. I highlighted red in below. But i can t figure out or come to conclusion on how to deal with the 4 corners. So how can the fence pickets not end up to be on top outside of the 2x4 framing.
