Cork underlayments can make on grade and below grade floors feel much warmer with their thermal insulating qualities.

Use cork underlay sheets as flooring.

We wanted a maximum cork underlayment sound rating without raising the finished floor too high. So we chose to go with a 12mm thickness. Most condo boards require at least 12mm or thicker cork underlayment between floors when using hard flooring. With cork underlayment you are literally walking on air.

Cork works as an excellent underlayment the material that goes under your flooring and provides stability and support. Cork flooring underlayment comes in sheets and rolls but this has a minimal effect on any of the goals of cork flooring underlayment. The cork goes under other hardwood laminate ceramic porcelain marble stone or cork flooring. You want space for doors carpets floor mats etc.

The main difference between types of cork flooring underlayment is thickness. Half inch thick sheets or panels of cork are used as an underlay to reduce the transfer and echo of noise. The installation of a cork or cork blend underlayment reduces the sound of footstep noise both within the room and in the space below in the case of 2nd floor and above installations. It lessens the movement of sound through the floor and within the room itself.

Be sure to keep floor height in mind. Cork sheets contains millions of air filled pockets per cubic inch.
